Government of Odisha had adopted an Agricultural policy for the State in the year 1996 for bringing commercialization in the field of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry & Fishery by giving Agriculture the status of Industry.

APICOL has also been formed to bring in shift from subsistence Agriculture to commercial Agriculture by motivating and providing support to the farmers and entrepreneurs of the State.

Key areas of investment will be identified in the following areas:

  •  Input Supply sector such as Seed and Plant material, Bio-fertilizers &  Bio-pesticides, creation of irrigation potential and Farm mechanization etc.
  •   Primary collection centres, preprocessing and value addition possibilities for cereals, pulses, vegetables & fruits at the production centers creating employment opportunities in the rural areas and higher price realization for farmers.
  • Food processing including Dairy, Fisheries and Poultry sector for value addition, packaging, transportation, maintenance of cold chain, proper storage, branding, marketing etc.
